Just got a new Sebae Anenome a few days ago and although my lfs was certain that I had enough light for it I'd like to double check everyones opinion. I bought it white w/ purple tips and I do feel it is already getting darker although I'm keeping an eye on it. My clown has immediately taken to it, which I was told not to expect so that was nice. It is reactive to touch and ate without any persuasion. It bought it with the rock it was already attached to and it has not felt the need to relocate himself from where I originally put him. Can I assume Im just having good luck because after reading other threads I was a little worried, especially after everyone said MH were needed? Oh and I have a Sundial T5HO w/ 2 Acitinics and 2 10,000k Sunpaq (4x54w?) Just being paranoided b/c my clown loves it now and I'd hate for something to happen :)

Thats about the same lighting I started with in my first tank that has a saebe. It's been fine and I've had it for 6 months. I got some power compacts last months and it didn't move from where it has always been. Don't expect it to turn brownish overnight, that will take a while. I fed mine every 2 or 3 days for at least a month before I started to notice it's color changing.

Speaking of saebe's... In my new 75gal tank it just has a Clarkii, it's a wild caught and has been digging holes in the sand every night to sleep in, almost like trying to host something every night. Today I went and bought a seabe for it, after about 15 mins it noticed the anenome and went nuts. Hasn't left the anenome since. I hope he's happy now!

That lighting sounds like it is plenty. Glad to see your clown likes it!

Thanks a lot, also how long do you think the lights should be on, I was battling a little bit of algae so I lowered my lighting to about 6 hours a day, with the acitinics on 1/2 hour before and after the 10,000k are on...should I up the lighting time?

Id run the lighting at least 8hrs a day, or from what I've read (never tried it) acintics don't feed algaes they only feed off the daylight types of light, however corals can feed off them so you can just leave the daylights off and run the acintics on longer cycles

I ran mine for 10hrs for about 7 months then bumped it up to 12hrs the last 3 months and everything has been fine. my lfs said 8-10hrs so I went with 10 at first.

Depends what kind of water you're using and what your water quality is like. If your water quality is high then i wouldnt be scared to extend your lights to 8 hours. that's what mine run at and i have absolutely no problems with algae
