lighting for 150 long

    Hey all I just bought a 150 long and was wondering if i could go the t5 route or if metal halide was the only was to go. the tank is 72x18x28 i think. I plan on keeping many different corals. i also plan on a 4 inch sand bed. so what all do u suggest thanks.

    You could go T5s, but will either need two 36" fixtures or retro kits. 28" is getting pretty deep, but you can use T5s. Personally, I would use MH, but you should price things out and see what you want to keep. Another thing to consider is that you most likely don't want to be limited by what you can keep, depending on the T5 setup, that may be the case.

    A high quality 8 bulb fixture will allow SPS in the high and mid levels of the tank.

    MH will be your only option for SPS on the deck..... well, there are deep water SPS, but that is another story.

    I have the same tank currently empty awaiting better economic times to arrive. I plan on a 3 reflector 250w MH retrofit kit with 2 supplemental t5's all built into a DIY Canopy. This should allow me to keep any corals I wish.
