i was thinking about buying a chalice and was wondering if they could survive min my tank with power compact lighting. and also if so where the placement should be ( high or low flow)

You will want mid to high flow and keep it middle to high in your tank.

^ IME, right about the same as most other LPS. I keep some in my tank alongside a mix of SPS and LPS, and they do just fine. They are known to soak up Mg at a faster pace than most corals however. Some of mine grow quite quickly, some are much slower.

They're also fairly aggressive, and can release toxins into the water. Run your carbon!

I have one that bleaches if it's not in the shade...

Some want very low light... It's a tricky coral IME.

True, I find the individual differences to be really extreme. I have a couple up with my SPS, and some that I can't move off of the sandbed.

I have all of mine mounted vertically, and they still bleach somewhat if they get a lot of light.
