OK, I have a really silly question so bear with me. I have a 90g tank, 24 deep, I have 4x54w T-5 lighting which is about 6.5 inches from the top of the tank. My closest coral (gold finger leather) is approx 7 inches from the top of my tank. Now my question is, are the lights too far from the tank, because the coral is not opening up. I'm using 2 white and two blue T5 bulbs. Any help would be appreciated.

The light should be about 4 to 5 inches above the water. If you are not circulating your water about 20x per hour your leather may not open much. They like high flow.

they can stay closed for a couple of days or IME a week when they are shedding skin

do you have other corals in the tank?
if so how are they looking?
