For my new tank im going to use a 250 watt MH 1400k bulb. My question is what size tank do I need to grow any coral including sps?

Depends on how much you want to keep up with. You can grow corals in a tiny tank 5-10g or as big as you want, just depends on your being able to keep the water parameters balanced properly. The larger the tank, the easier but more expensive it will be to do this.

So I just got a free 20 gallon tall, might use it as DT (more deep than 20L) would a 250 MH be too bright? Or maybe it would be awesome???
