Well I sold a vintage camera for more then what I expected so I thought I could go into the low 100$ for a nice metal halide light. I seen this one below on ebay. I figured it was nice, then I read they're known to catch fire?? can anyone recommend a nice 24" fixture that won't catch the house on fire for under 150$? or is that odyssea fire bug worked out?

That deal seems too good to be true. I would wonder about the ballast. I'm no expert on the subject, but if the other 3reefers give this a good review, I think I might get it. But I have a feeling the others will shoot it down in flames. No pun intended.

Even thou Odyssea light fixtures are not the best in town, they dont catch fire. There are many 3reef members here, including myself, that have Odyssea light fixtures. The only pre-caution that I took was to place a fan in front of the ballasts to keep them cool. I didnt do this b/c of the "fire hazard", but it has been shown that the ballast last longer when they run cooler. Luna
