So I just bought a 36" 192 watt florescent light made by Odyssey I was reading up on lighting for inverts and fish in a coral system and this author said he found that for optimal viewing times he would set his lighting to come on in 12 and 14 hour increments. The florescent light would come on first from 12 pm till 2 am and the other light (atnic) light would come on at 1 pm and stay on till 1 am. I am just looking for some other input and suggestions. I know that there are a lot of options and ways to light drop me a line thanks Trey

I don't know who the author is or what he was even trying to imply! If you follow that logic you will be spending hardearned money on electricity to run your lights for a very long time. Optimal viewing times? I don't know may people that are going to be viewing their tanks at 12-2 in the morning! Optimal viewing times are when you and family, friends are home from work to enjoy the tank and probably would be closer to say 4-10pm during the week and somewhat longer during the weekends. Fish and most invertebrates do not require the light duration to be so extreme. If you had light loving corals then this would have to be tweaked somewhat but this is just a watse of money and bulb life if yu asked me.
