There are a lot of nice corals to choose from now, but what I have noticed is it seems that most people keep different types (SPS, LPS, Leathers, etc...) in seperate tanks. Are their parameters that far off from each other or is it a personal preference? Just curious because I wanna have some of ALL of them. LOL ;D Seriously I would like to mix it up a little in the tank. Is that possible?

You can have both in one tank if you can adjust your flow accordingly and keep softies low. SPS like a high flow where as softies like it gentle to somewhat moderate.

You can have them all but you must get the right kind of light to handle the most light requiring coral and then place the rest in the appropriate distance from the light so they will survive. If you get leather corals you will definitely need to use carbon to filter your water because they tend to release toxins into the water as a form of defense. SPS corals require the most intense light.

a lot of times, softer coral will not grow very will in the pristine waters that we must keep sps in. when I had all of my sps, they were growing very rapidly while my leathers, zoas, kenya tree and so on, would barely budge. Now that I have gotten rid of most of my sps, I am a little more relaxed on the upkeep and my kenyas, leathers and zoas do great.
