so i have been trolling the forums a lot, and one thing that has been on my mind and i cant find anything on it( i know there has to be a thread somewhere). Why do you prop up LR instead of placing it just on the sand?

I place mine right in the sand but i have noticed when i remove the rock from the sand that part of the rock is a different color. Possibly it kills the rock in that section?

You can do it either way. Sitting it on the sand promotes Hydrogen Sulfide zones underneath the rocks which is one of the reasons people prop them up. Additionally, sometimes people buy animals that burrow and they don't want accident rockwork collapses.
