So its been along battle but my tank finally looks like I want it to. Mostly because what I learned here. The bryopsis was the hardest to get rid of, then the bubble algae, then then the hair aglae. I did alot of different things so its impossible to say what worked the best. I can tell you what didnt work tho. That was buying livestock to eat the algae(snails, inverts, crabs, fish ..etc). They either died or didnt eat anything. It seems like I chased my tail doing these things for a long time. I ended up using GFO(BRS) and bio pellets(Ecobak) and the aquaripure filter to end this problem. I also got a skimmer rated 3X the volume of my tank(SCA150). I also increased the flow in my tank with 2X jeabo wp25's(I know that seems like alot of flow for a 46 gallon but I also got the aftermarket JBwave controller and programmed it so it works awesome) I waited almost 1 year to make this post just to be sure I didnt have a relapse or concerns about my equipment. I should put up a pic of how bad my algae was before but i got to go back and find one. I also have started supplemented my feeding with Nuagli but that will be for another post. The PE on my stony's has been incredible since using Nualgi but so far its impossible to tell what is doing to control algae growth since i have so little now. If you noticed the LTA is hosting 2 clowns wonderfully. I think I have a trick to get an anemone to stay in one spot. It has not moved in 3 years i'm pretty sure it never will. That should also be for another post :). My last water change was 9/27/14) and I'm not planning another on until March. I do supplement ca,alk, and mag and trace elements. I am hoping to thin my garden of zoas to make more room for stoneys. Any one want a frag of 200 blue raven eyes ..? my LFS does not seem to want to give me store credit :( ...loving it in Virginia!
