    So in the process of transferring my live rock from my 29 gallon to my 75 gallon I found this piece under one of them. Can someone clue me in as to what it is and if I should keep it. So far it's on my sand bed.:confused:

    Cool sponge! Don't let that baby touch the air - not even for a second.

    Don't let it touch air?? Why?? I already did. Are sponges suppose to be submerged all the time??

    oooo...if they are exposed air can get trapped in the tubes and kill them. But if it makes you feel better I didn't know about the hh sponge until I was inspecting the rock for unwanted things. It was in the air for a good 10 minutes and is doing o.k.:)

    hh sponge?? Is that the name of it. It makes me feel a little better. LOL. I didn't have it out too long. Not even a minute. Will it change colors if it begins to die??

    hh=hitch hiker :)

    dont know about changing colors as the sponge I have is also my first. Well besides this pink sponge (oid) that irritates my corals if it grows by them. I haven't been able to ID the pink type yet and usually scrape it off the rock when I find it.
