I made this fixture out of 6 10 wt 20K leds. 2 30 watt controllers, some aluminum angle, stainless screws and extension cords. I opted not to have 40-50 1 watt leds on a giant aluminum heat sink so I went more power, less leds. I have an I7 processor heatsink on each led and it keeps them cool to the touch. I am going to add another row (3) royal blue 454 nm leds with another controller to the middle of this fixture as well.

They are brand new heatsinks, cheap too. Anyways I am embarrassed of my tank right now because my stealth heater disaster ruined it all. Now my new heater (replacement) is not keeping temp well and not even close to the dial temp. ***

So here is a question. My old 250 wt MH light and 20K bulb specs said it put out 23000 lumens. My new Led set up puts out 4800 lumens with just 6 20K leds, 7200 lumens with 6 20K and 3 454nm royal blue. Cree xpe put out roughly 100 lumens per bulb meaning 48 cree's put out 4800 lumens. This is the common led used and 48 seem to be the key for a small reef. (So i've heard) The question I have is, will 4800 lumens be enough to grow sps on a 40 breeder set up? Going from MH 23,000 to LED 4800 seems like a huge drop. Although the light to me seems to be almost the same intensity.

I also love the CPU heat sinks! So awesome.

Looks really neat. Are you running the fans on the heat sinks too?

You don't measure leds by par the same as you would with halides or t5s except xp leds. All other leds don't give off the same yellow spectrums that a par meter picks up.
