We've pretty much lost our green zoanthids - the polyps died off one at a time :(.

I'm not sure what happened. Could it be due to our TDS being around 20? We've got replacement filters on the way.

    TIA,
    julie

are you sure you don't have have a small predator killing them off, i don't think a tds reading of 20 would do it .

I really don't think there's anything nipping at them - unless urchins eat them. They were one of the first corals we got - at least 10 months ago. They did really well for a long time. They've been dying off for about 2 months now.

Do you add iodine to your tank and if so have you tested the iodine levels in your tank? I believe that zoanthids really benefit from iodine supplementation. From my experience, I think that they prefer a tank with elevated Iodine concentrations at approx. .06ppm. I supplement with TM Pro Coral Iodine as required. Hope this helps

Next time when you notice this to happen,i would frag them off in to a couple pieces. And its not your TDS,i run Tap water on my 500+ gallon system with no problems

Thanks guys, I appreciate your input. I have dosed iodine in the past, but not recently. Fragging them would have been a good idea - at least I know what to do next time.

    Thanks!
