    I have a reef octopus NWB110 protein skimmer and its works very well but its loud. The noise is a gurgling sound from the air intake. Any suggestions on how to quiet this sound?

    You could DIY a silencer. Does it not have one?

    Was it always noisy? maybe running some water through the air intake will clean some deposits out?

    Maybe time for a vinegar bath?
    When my skimmer and pumps get loud I know it's time for cleaning.

    Full strength white vinegar will work the quickest; 30-40 min is all it should take.

    You can dilute it, but it'll take longer to get clean.

    mine was loud at first, then when i looked at it i had the scilencer on there upside down...? fliped it and its quite now. other than that then i would clean it like the others said, I always have a gallon jug of white vinager layin around thats dedicated to teh tank. HTH
