Ok all I'm a newbie with a low ph problem. I just started to cure my rock. I'm using BRS reef saver rock which is dead of course. I just finished filling and started up my system yesterday. I used RO/DI water and Coralife marine salt mix.

I have tested all the parameters yet but my salinity is at 1.027, ph is at 7.85 water temp is 80. I'm using two different ph meters an American pinpoint and the ph meter from my reef keeper lite.

I don't know if this is normal and it will balance itself off or if I need to do something. Any advice is appreciated

    Thanks
    Ed

You could always add ph buffer to level out your ph. Also are you using RO/DI water when you make saltwater or add to top off?

During the curing process I wouldn't worry about your PH. Also PH is important but PH stability is far more important that it being 8.2

I say you let it cycle first then worry about the PH like Jason said.

Worry about the other parameters a then worry about the PH once everythings fine.

Agree with others. If curious - do a late day test before lights go off. It starts low and goes up during the day.

Newreef that sounds great. It is good to have someone close. I'm sure we will end up trading and getting together down the road. ;D
