When people say something like 1 head of torch will turn into 6 heads quickly how would you know how many heads it is. Do they grow more "mouths" or is it just a relative term. I have a torch thats doubled in size since I got it about 2-3 months ago so I was just wondering.

You just count the heads . . . if 1 head looks like its splitting in a couple different directions then you know, in time, they will be separate heads. with a torch you need to count them when its all closed up, otherwise it just looks like 1 gigantic ball of coral awesomeness. I have a frogspawn thats the same way, when open its the size of a softball, but in the early morning when the lights come on you can just make out 5 or 6 distinct branching heads.

This is only for the branching forms of Euphyllia. There are two varietes of frogspawn/torch/anchor corals. There is a "wall" type which has a growth form that does not divide itself up into "heads" it just grows bigger and adds more skeleton/mouths/tentacles. There is also the branching type which does divide itself up.
The branching forms are most commonly sold as frags because they are much easier to frag, less risk of the whole colony dying off like can happen if you try and frag the "wall" forms.
