So I got this frag from one of the LFS in my area and I thought it was a very interesting looking candy cane and for $5 I could not pass it up. The outer edge is a light purple and the inner portion is almost neon green.

The guy at the LFS knew nothing about everything so he was no help. So I need the help of 3reef to let me know what this is.

The first pic is more true to color than the second. I apologize for the poor quality of the pictures, they are from my cell phone.

    Thanks for any input.

Well it looks like a CC. They do come in purple/green combos. I can't see the stalks, so I can't be sure it isn't a blasto.

    Blasto example:

They look like trumpets or candycanes to me, but good call on the blastomussa wellsi, it could be that, but it's more likely just a trumpet.

So either way it is a LPS that should be target fed small pieces of krill/brine/mysis? That pic of the Blasto looks dead on as well! Thanks guys.

How do you tell the difference from Blasto and Candy Canes and Trumpets? I know Candy canes and trumpets are similar, but have not seen any Blasto's as of yet.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, I knew it was a good deal and they seem to be happy in my tank as they eat what I feed them. ;D

Thanks for the links! This helped my immensely. I have decided, due to the links and pictures, that they are definitely blastos. They do appear to have the "hairy" like edges. Thanks everyone.

That would be a great deal.

The coloration on the pics makes it look like a blastomussa to me. Whether it is a wellsi or a merletti is another question, but merlettis are usually smaller.
