Well. It took its time. But its finally arrived!!!

Here she be in all her glory! The love of my life!

The tank mean. Ignore the girl. That's just my gf looking rough after getting down and dirty with helping me with the building work going on.

(thats a joke btw. ::) Incase she reads this. Besides, she actually scrubs up qute nicely.)

Anyway, back to the important part.

    *Display tank :L180cm x W60cm x H90cm
*Holds approximately 250 us gallons in display tank
    *Sump : L160cm x W40 x H45cm
    *Holds approximately 75 us gallons
*Display tank has discreet overflow built in to the left side so tank is visible and attractive from 3 sides.

Sadly that's all i can tell you at the moment. As you can see there's still quite a bit of work to be done on the house to get it in a livable condition. That's meant i haven't been allowed to 'play' with the tank a fraction of what id like to. The delivery men pretty much just set it down, i took a pic, then back to work. But i guess the sooner the house is finished, the sooner i can get the tank up and running properly eh :D

I also picked up these babies

2 is probably over kill. But they were so cheap that i thought it would be a crime not to buy 2. Besides.....ill be doing a FO or FOWLR so over skimming can't hurt in this scenario.

Also picked up a 15w submersible UV filter (no pictures though)

So that's pretty much it for now. Just wanted to stick a pic up for you all to see for now. The next progress update will probably be in about a week, +/- couple of days. Just gotta finish up the little things in the house first.

Thanks for all the comments so far.

Steve: The lighting will just be the light that came with the setup. Its 2 x 48w T8's in that marine blue colour and 10k white.
Im not planning on growing anything in there, so the lighting is pretty much just for show.
Damn this chinese national holiday. Means i cant get anything done, and the last few things i need doing for the house now have to wait till builders are back in 3 days :(

Im a bit concerned about the return pump they provided me with. Looks kinda small. What kind of flow should i be looking at for a return pump for his size tank? Would i need to know the diameter of the overflow to accurately estimate the size of return pump needed?

    Thanks Luc

yes FOWLR - No worries with lighting
Chinese national holidays - Im a big fan of them to be honest, thats why I can be on here so much today

flow rates on return pumps - opinions vary , but I note many people recomend 10 x tank volume per hour through sump - but I have seen figures as low as 5 X and much higher being used ( for people with drilled tanks where all the water movement results from that return pump and they dont want any visible power heads in the DT)

knowing your tank volume is key and also knowing the size and lenght of your pipework and any elbows etc on them as this creates back pressure or head pressure
so you dont get the amount of flow that the pump states

check out the build threads of some of the guys with big set ups like yours and see what they are using , that will help you make your mind up as to whether what you have been sold is adequate or not.

oh yes, dont get me wrong. Chinese national holiday is good! Just not when my house is 97% complete and i have my baby (the tank) sitting there idle!
I did enjoy watching the big parade in beijing on tv though. Some impressive pieces of military hardware there. (i thought china still fought wars with sticks and stones :D lol)

Well the pump in question has a flow rate of 2600 LPH (that's liters) @ 3m.
Thats not gonna be enough is it :( .That works out at 686 GPH without calculating loss. Which is just over 2x the volume of the tank per hour. Im not too worried about it though. As it came with the package. Ill just get a big boy from the market and use this one as a spare.

Or for one of the many different tanks i have planned for my new home :D lol. Already have the small 20g one that we are going to transfer over to the new house when its ready. Have built a small pond on the balcony (have a work in progress pic of it if youd like to see) and have set aside a nice L shape wall in my home office where im planning on putting a freshwater planted tank on one side and an african cichlid tank along the other. Damn, what the hell is wrong with me!! :S I must be a mentalist with all these tanks!

Anyway....thanks again for help stevey wonder
