    Hey everyone!

My name is Nick and I've been a lurker on these boards for a couple months. I purchased a new tank/stand last summer and decided to make the jump to salt water.

I've become a fresh water master over the years (have had 100 gallon freshwater tank for over 10 years). I'm not sure why, but decided I'd do salt water with this new tank.

So I purchased most of the things I would need over the holidays and bought about 50% live rock and 50% base rock (all purchased off another reefer that was taking apart a large tank). With all the live rock, my cycle only took about 2 weeks.

I let the tank continue running for about another week and a half prior to starting to set up my clean-up crew. I started with 4 Mexican Turbo Snails and 15 small blueleg hermit crabs. Thus far they seem to be pretty happy. And just yesterday I added a peppermint shrimp (will be adding another one plus a couple cleaner shrimp when my lfs gets a new shipment in next week).

After that, the plan is to add a couple clowns. I hope to eventually start keeping coral but know I have some upgrades to do prior to that. I'm currently running a couple T5 lights that I know won't cut it for most corals (10 000K & Actinic). I'm very closely watching new LED systems (specifically the BoostLED Mu Series 135W LED Module).

Anyways, I just want to thank EVERYONE on this site for your contributions. I can say I spent WEEKS reading over these forums in preparation for starting my own piece of the ocean. I can definitely say that you guys are the reason I've had such a successful start-up.

Thank you and I hope to become an active member of this great community.

    Nick

    (P.S. Pics will soon follow...)

Hey all! So I FINALLY have pics!

My tank is a 60 gallon cube tank. Since posting I've added 2 Blood Shrimp and 1 Cleaner shrimp to the main display tank.

I just bought 2 Ocellaris Clown Fish yesterday (they're so small and cute!) that are in a quarantine tank. It's so hard not just putting them in the main tank! But I know patience will pay off with healthy fish and a healthy aquarium!

Anyways, here's some pics. I'll also be posting a couple pictures in the ID This forum as I have a couple questions about some critters in the tank that I believe came along with the live rock I purchased.

Oh, and the aiptasia you'll see in one of the pics is long gone. Aiptasia-X worked AMAZINGLY well. So THANK YOU to everyone that gave their input on it here!
