I am currently attempting lyretails in my 90. I wanted 3, as it's suggested in multiple places to get an odd number. About a month ago, I bought the only 2 my LFS had. 2 weeks later I was able to buy a third. The two originals are doing great, eat like crazy, and are very personable. The last one I bought was never accepted into the shoal. It died 2 days ago. I guess if you attempt multiple, buy them at the same time. I don't really know if I should try another, or just be happy with the 2 I have. Good luck with yours!!!

I have read that the lyretails from Maldives have the best coloring, so I will definitely go that route. And I think I'll only buy one (maybe three) that has been at the LFS for quite awhile, so I know it's eating, etc.

    Thanks for the info!

I've got a pair of maldive lyretails. I haven't had them too long(about a month) and they're doing well. On thing I've noted about feeding is to watch them closely. Mine were going right after the flake for right away but I watched for a few mins and saw that they kept spitting it back out. So I've been feeding mysis and a mix of spirilina and brine flakes and there eating well. I plan to add two more females in the near future.

I have had one female for a while it stayed the same sex. I did have a male for a while but I started having problems with disease and I beleive that's what took him since he passed a couple of weeks ago .They are freindly fish and my female makes agrunting noise when I pass by my tank. They are great my female I've had for two years. From what I've read they do better in groups of 5 with one male. I've been keeping an out for some more but the lfs hasn't had anything . Good luck

I have read that they like to be in schools. A school would be beautiful!! I'm just trying to decide if I want to use up that much space with the same type of fish...

thanks for the info! I think that's hilarious that your female talks to you. Haha
