macro algae in refugium

    I am not sure if this is normal but the macro algae in my refugium turned brown...is that normal or is it dead?

    probaly dead/dieing, check your tank parameters and make sure nothing is mucking up the water.

    What do you have in your fuge and what is your water flow across it in gph?

    i have a 50/50 light on the refug and its only on from 7pm-8am. The main tank is 4 months old as for water flow i have a viacom attach to it with 106 GPH but i lower the amount of water going through probaly about 40gph.

    What kind of algae do you have in the fuge, caulerpa, cheato, mangroves....ect?

    i just added some caulerpa...before im not sure what it was called but the fish store said they were macroalgae and least fav for tangs

    Need good lights Calcium and iron to grow.

    Hi,
    algae can be fickled to grow if the light is not bright enough, or the iron is to low I put mine in a shoe box with some of that figi mud it really greened up after that.
