I picked up 2 lights from Home Depot ($18 ea). I am thinking that they will work well for lighting the macro algae.
refugium lights Click on the "specifications" & look up 9265 -

Is 65 watts ea (claims to be same as 500 watts incandescent) @ 6500K, 84 CRI, 8,900 lumens / 4500 photopic lumens going to work for this application?

There will be 2 of these lights 12" above the surface with 10" water depth. As of right now the cheato looks like a good sponge.

Holy catfish Batman! That is plenty of light for your refugium. I have an 18 watt day glow and evwerything is fine.

So I guess that's overkill...they don't really seem that brite when they're on. Well, they were inexpensive, I can use just one if that will work - thanks for the reply.
