No problem!!;D Most people using the BRS stuff do 5c MgCl2 to 3c MgSO4 but I will tweek that at times if I am heavily dosing CaCl2.

    Good luck!

    Dr. Fragenstein:

Question: How do you determine your ionic balance? Does the Salifert test kit indicate this, or do you use something else? Trying to understand how you will know your status and then tweak the ratios.

Right now, I'm planning on ordering the MgCl2 from BRS and picking up some Epsom Salt next time I'm in the pharmacy.

Appreciate your chiming in on this. I've submitted similar threads on other forums and no one has really answered my questions. Mega Karma bump for you.

I don't necessarily TEST for the ionic balance, essentially what I do is go off what I know are the know concentrations of the elements and adjust accordingly. Without getting too in depth is I know I am dosing 2x the amount of CaCl2 this week for what ever reason I will try to either cut the MgCl2 down abit of slightly raise the MgSO4. I don't have a precise formula I can give you, I will try to write one, I mostly go off of my "gut" for lack of a better term. This way is be know means scientifically exact but I know it will help the balance of chloride and sulfate if I adjust them when something changes. I guess its like anything in life, if you are exercising more or working out you eat more and if not hopefully you eat less right? ;-) I know thats a poor analogy but it was the first to come to mind. Long story short scootman, I suppose you will need to expirement and get used to your tank before you know what to add or adjust.

    Good luck
