Would it be a true statement to say, the less you have your hands in your reef tank, ( changing this, cleaning that, etc., ) the healthier your tank will be ?

I use to have my hands in the aquarium everyday cleaning the front glass of my 10 gallon nano. I just bought a giant zebra turban snail & he is cleaning up quite nicely, so I don't have to put my hands in the tank anymore. I did buy some seaweed to feed the turban if he runs out of algae. By the time he finishes that, there should be some algae on the tank's glass once more.

Anyway, back to my original question. Will my tank be healthier the more I keep my hands out of it ?

It is true....the less you mess with your rock, corals, the inside of your tank...the better you and everything in the tank will be.

If you have to clean the glass often buy a mag cleaner.

If you do have your hands in your tank a lot, be careful that before you go in there you haven't recently washed with anti-bacterial soap. The minute residue on your hands could kill some of your beneficial bacteria. Or, I guess you could just wear gloves, which as long as they are clean and sterile will have no adverse effects on your tank.
