    Ya, its a VERY fine marine sand, I bought it actually because it does not cloud the water AT ALL!!! It drops straight to the bottom with no clowdyness.

    He is actually hiding right now, pissed at me for chasing him with the net, I cant snap a photo. But there are no spots on him at all now.
    Heres a pic when i added him last week.

    Scared little guy laid in the sandbed for 2hrs before he found a spot to hide. He stayed hidden 2 days, now he swims all over the tank

    That i do not know, I havent figured a way to sex it.
    Only info on that i found was about the top fin? Being long or short??
    Its still a baby though. 3/4 - 1 inch

    o nice ya if the dorsal fin is taller then its a male i think its a male from the pic if you look at the dorsal fin folded back you can kinda see a point. also if you go online and type in male mandarin and female mandarin you can usually see the difference pretty clearly with the fin. Also if you decide to get another get a female and in there courting dance the males stretches out all of his fin's it sooo cool

    that's sand for sure.. don't stress out
    i've had that on mine before too
