As Dngspot stated, yes you can, but the "ideal" situtation is to place them in a refugium with a reverse lighting cycle to your DT. Helps keep your PH stable at night when your main lights are off.

Ph drops at night b/c your main lights "help" your corals and plants with Photosynthesis. Photosynthesis products O2, which cancels out any Co2 that may be in your water. I know its not a good scientific explanation, but I hope I answered your Q.

    Luna,

Just curious, do you use mangroves? How lucky you are to be so close to them.

Yes, I have about 10 mangroves right now. I practically work on the beach. I have about 6-10 miles of shoreline, four bridges, two of them are fishing piers, The NOAA building is a near by neighbor, The University of Miami Marine Biology is across the street from NOAA and there is a fishery across from the NOAA building. The Miami Sea Aquarium is across from me, I have a marina at walking distance. Dude, if I where to list the things that I can get for free at work, you would go crazy.

Looks good. Have they worked well in keeping the nitrates down?

It will take a while. It is the leaves that export nitrate. I have not seen any leaves yet.
