Mantis Shrimp Question

I found what I believe to be a mantis shrimp in one of my LR. I removed the rock and have it sitting in a bucket with wet newspaper. Is this enough to kill a mantis shrimp or do I need to do something else. I am hoping he will suffocate being out of water but if there is something else I should do I will do whatever it takes to get him out of the rock.

 

Dip the LR in RO water. I'd go 1-2min max. The fresh water will cause the mantis to run out. leaving it out to the air will cause 2 things. One you run the risk of the mantis dying inside the LR & two killing what you want alive in the LR.

 

I doubt it will kill him before it kills everything else on the rock. I keep a mantis as a pet and they are remarkably hardy animals. What I would do would be to put the rock in your QT tank with a mantis trap. That way you don't lose anything from the rock except the mantis. I am kind of a patient guy though, and prefer not to kill a mantis lol.

Dip the rock in fresh water (RO/DI water please) and the mantis will come running out, if it's an actual mantis. You might want to keep it seperate. Catch it after it runs out and put it back in some salt water to keep it alive, who knows, some freak like stepho or I would want it as a pet. Or an LFS might want to sell it off.

dip it i had one and got rid of it last week it worked great. kill that $%^&* before he kills your snails and hermits. like mine did

 

depending on what kind of life you have on your LR sometimes just regular RO doesn't work but what I used and worked everytime is just a regular carbonated drink... all the carbonation has the little shrimp running for its life. and out he goes
