    well i am thinking about goin a different route to the all in one nano, because i think there volume is wasted in height which you dont need for a mantis..so i was thinkin of gettin a tank made, something like 20x12x12 hopefully for a purple spot mantis. would a HOB filter be fine and a thermometer with a cage around it incase he decides to whack it lol

    HOB filter will be fine as long as you keep up with water changes too. I had a thermometer with my mantis and he never whacked it, but it isn't a bad idea. If you need a heater on your tank make sure you get a titanium one if it is going inside the display.
