    i have been hunting this mantis in my tank for a while, i cornerd him to a small peice of rock, i took the rock out and put on QT, now i just read they can burrow through sand. is it more likey he hid in the rock or burrowed into my sand, hes only a little guy, and bright green

    Yes, that is true. Mantis shrimp do some interesting things. Do you need more information? My wife startled one the other day and it nipped at her finger.
