    hi everyone! so, i was at the LFS yesterday, and what did i see but a beautiful juvenile tank-raised map angel. well, i checked out the fishes profile in scott michael's book "marine fishes", and then proceeded to think long and hard about buying him. i decided that he could replace the singapore angel on my fish list, and i went back today to buy him. i haven't added anything new for about 3-4 weeks, so i thought that it would be ok. he has acclimated well, and is eating voraciously. thought i would let you guys know.

    Could you provide us with a latin name for the "Map" angel? I, nor my boss, don't know any angels with that common name. We both feel its a butcherring of some other name. Is it from the Singapore hatchery?

    p. macolusus is the latin name. the spelling might be a tad off. i dont know what hatchery, but i will try to find out.

    That would make it a "Mac" angel, not a "Map" angel. Maculosus, break down the word, and you get Mac angel or commonly known as a yellow-band angelfish or what most call it, maculosus. I knew what angel your talking about and what hatchery, I just wanted to see how many people would try to tell me what a Map angel was ;).

    the reason i called it a map angel, is because in scott michael's book "marine fishes", it is referred to by several common names, map angel being one of them.

    Scott's a tourist with a camera, who loves strange fish. Just kidding, well not about the strange fish. He gives names, that have been translated to english, from names, Philippino exporters made from translated english names. One big game of operator.

    is his book an accurate guide to the care and housing needs of the fish he describes? going by his book, my angel should be happy in the 90g for several years. i still plan on upgrading in the late summer anyway though.

    any opinions on the change in my list? anything i should know or change because of the new angel? i researched, and it is feeding well, but i was hoping you guys could critique my plan. :)
