Ok now that the percula clowns are gone I don't think I will be getting any more, they just seem to be a bit on the dumb side.

I've been looking at getting a single maroon clown, would that be a bad choice? Would be kinda nice to have something that would stand up to the domino once and a while. But if the clown is going to terrorize the entire tank then it's not worth it.

Will the maroon need a picture of the anenome to host or do they host them quicker than the percs?

    Thanks!

    Sorry to hear about percs...:-[

Why just one Maroon. Why not pair? - mating habits and other characteristics make them a great combination to have in tank.

Having a pair will keep them busy with each other and less likely to bully other fish if only one kept.

Not to mention, I would find a single one looking very sad and lonely. :p

No problem with hosting. Put in a BTA and they will hop right in after few minutes once anem gets to know them.

Just buy pair of juveniles...nature will take care of rest.

Thanks :( it's kind of a relief because ever since I got them they had troubles with eating and ick and everything else, at least I don't have to worry about them all day.

Sounds like a plan, I was just worried that in a pair they would be even more aggressive as opposed to just one.

    Thanks for the info!

I have one Maroon. He's been in my tank almost since inception. He's doubled his size. Never had an Ick problem. He seems very happy and plays well with others, as long as they leave his toadstool alone :)

I have a single maroon clown in my tank. I haven't noticed him pining away for a companion, but the 3 BTA's he calls home keep him busy. So much real estate, so little time.

He actually hosts all 3 at the same time? He just goes from home to home to home..

I think I am going to go tonight to my LFS and see if they have any.

Yup...it's only a 20 gallon tank and the 3 BTA's are all together, but the clown just cruises back and forth between them all. He only occasionally wanders off to put on his tough guy act for the gramma and 6line. I don't think he even knows that I got a goby 2 months ago.

Well i'm hoping that if the clown messes with anyone it'll be the domino because he is the bully of the tank and needs a good butt kicking.
