    Pruning is taking out all of the dead stuff and cutting back/trimming the new growth when it gets to big more or less.

    Alright cool. I've got 3 watts per gallon of light.... I wont need co2 right?

    I'm not expert in this area, but I always understood that supplementing CO2 would help with plant growth.

    Supplementation of CO2 will depend on the amount of light you have over the tank. Even in FW, I don't see how the W/gallon rule can be an accurate one to follow.

    The more light - generally equals better growth and thus more co2 supplementation will be needed to keep up. I would suggest dosing flourish excel every day or every other day, depending on the plants you wish to keep.

    It could be similarly compared to dosing of supplements in our reefs.
