Uh, sort of. You don't want too much light, and you don't want too much CO2. Either case would cause the plants to melt. Trimming them back (rooting plants that is) will help prevent them from 'melting'.

My sister has a the 6G 'bookshelf aquarium' from Amazon. You can see her video on Youtube if you want to see the tank. She just has two 6500K 18" bulbs over the tank.

It has filled in quite a bit since she posted it a month ago. Please excuse the whining dog in the background. :p

I don't recall what forum her tank thread is on. Last I talked to her, she was working on a DIY CO2 reactor setup.

    Thanks! ;)

Yup, that's what it was. I'm not sure whether she finished it yet.

Thanks, if you want a less expensive, easy to keep planted tank go with a large HOB filter and no reactors. I was giving you ideas of aquascaping for your planted tank. Look on youtube and search for the international aquascaping contests, etc.

I'll have an aquaclear 20.:) I would go with something like yours, just not as jungly. I plan on a lot of small foreground plants and a few backgrounds like java fern and whisteria. I also want a nice big piece of drift wood.

I think you could go with an aqua clear filter and the flourish excel for a while. Just be sure you don't get too many high light-requiring plants.

    The driftwood would look nice.

I'm looking at mainly swords, dwarf hair grass, fern stuff like that. I plan to buy the plants in those plastic snail-free containers. I had a bad expeirience with pond snails.

    I hate fresh water snails.
