Im just getting in an aquatic life t5 48" 4 bulb light. I was wondering if you could get anymore lighting out of that than about 200watt?

I'm not sure I understand the question because unless you use retrofit kits and overdrive the bulbs with Icecap ballasts all T5 bulbs of the same length have the same number of watts but their actual PAR output can vary greatly depending on the design of the fixture/reflectors.

I'm not super familiar with these fixtures since they seem to be pretty new.
There is one report in this thread that their reflectors are not as nice as Tek fixtures (which are sort of the defacto balanced cost/performance fixture these days it seems) so you will not get as much PAR output from your bulbs as a fixture with better reflectors.

Someone in that thread also brought up a good point about having the timers etc all built in, if a timer goes out the fixture probably needs to be serviced before it will be useable again. All your eggs in one basket so to speak.

A standard 48" T5 HO bulb is 54 watts, so you start with 216w. If you want, you can change out ballasts and over drive them to about 80 watts each.
