I have a 65 gallon with only a 1x96 light right now because I didn't look around before I got my tank. I am looking to upgrade the light and was wondering if this is too much? 36" 442W Metal Halide System w/ Electronic Ballast
It has a good price I believe or should I go a little cheaper and just get a 2X96 and still use the one I have to make it 3x96?

It all depends on how high the tank is and what kind of corals are you planning to keep, now and in the near future. Luna

BTW, thats an Odyssea light unit, which they dont have the best rep. Do your homework before you buy it. Luna

Thank you for drawing my attention to this light. I read that they have a fire problem and that makes me nervous. Thanks a bunch.

I would say go with the MH. When I got my aquarium I went with two 65 watt Power Compact lights being told that this is enough light. I mean it is as I kept Xenia, Torch Coral, Pipe Organ, Yellow Polyps, and Ricordea happy in it. I just recently added a Metal Halide using my Power Compacts as actinic lights and everything is a lot happier. Xenia pulsing like crazy. Torch, Pipe Organ, and Star Polyps come all the way out.
