    Hi
I just got two green chomis to help with cycling. it was recommended to use methylene blue while drip acclimating , then net and release fish into main tank. I don't want to have any adverse affects to the main tank, but would like to rid any parasites on newcomers. They are dripping now so before I add the stuff, Dose this method sound safe??

Don't let any of it get into your main system.. Its bad stuff in a marin system.. it whole reason for use is to prevent the spread of bacterial and fungal problems in F/W fish farming to and over the fish eggs.

Thats what concerned me(getting it the main tank).
Dose it work on ick also?
I,m going to take one extra step to reduce the chance of it getting in the main tank.
    Thanks

NO its an antibacterial/ fungal agent . Now the cause of fish loss from ich is not the parasite but more from infections then yes But it will not kill the problem.

Keep the fish shaded while doing the drip and when its all done fill a container with your tank water and use your hand and put the fish into the new tank water then let them set in that for a little while then put them into your main tank. best treatment for Ich is warm water. Its all I have ever done for ich. Now odinium is what many confuse for ich and thats a real killer..

That was the extra step, (a bath after the dip in a seperate contaner).
Instead of my hands I used a net and poured it through. (rinsed net well after each use with hot water)
It,s all said and done now. FIRST FISH IN NEW SETUP>>>YEAH:beer:
    Thanks for the info

If you get in the habit of washing your hands then getting them wet and gently and slowly ease up on the new fish with your hand then slowly lift them up and in the palm of your hand you will find its very simple and easy todo and you run less risk of hurting them in nets with hung up fins and scratches to infect and stress even. I don't even have a net . In the holding tank for sale I won't use on either always a clear display cup and my other hand to herd them in to that. The Boss here puts them in the bucket and I put them in the tank she won't touch fish LOL Try it a few times and you'll find when they hit the tank its not a panic and dash for the rocks like with a net.
