I have a 46 bow with a sunpod 2 150 Mh bulbs. I have a Zippi mini fan attached to the wall blowing right thru the middle top of tank (in between fixture and water surface.) The bottom line is that AC is the biggest contributing factor in keeping the temp where you want it. I keep my house at 75-77 and my tanks temp is almost always 78.2.

An ATO is a huge help in the summer months, especially if you use fans to cool things off. You can find some really easy ATO solutions at autotopoff.com

I use a clip on fan on the DT and a smaller fan on my sump and my temp is always between 79.5-80....it never gets cooler or warmer and I have 2 - 250w MH on my tank.

I have my 400W MH suspended 14" over the water surface and the temp stays at 79 deg with no extra ventalation other than the regular room AC. Your milage may vary :jester:
