As a member of the canadian army I was given the honour of being in a vigil party for rememberance day.

Vigil party being the guys with their rifle facing downward barrel resting on toe of your boot and chin down for 2 hrs on the 4 corners of a cenotaph. Very painful but also a huge honour.

Im the one in the front with the Movember lol.

Good to see your Grandma got the ceremony that she deserved for her service.

Sorry for the loss of your grandmother Shackmel and proud to hear she served for our country. My father was a retired 1st Class Chief Petty Officer in the Navy of 21 years. There is something very moving about a military funeral. My brother and I was the only 2 family pall bearers, the other 4 were miltary members. My mother displays his casket flag triangle folded in a glass showcase along with all his medals on her living room wall to this day.He passed 19 years ago.

The thing amazing to me was how the honor guard "talked" with their eyes so effectively. It got VERY windy all of the sudden. I actually watched how they scooted further away from each other a millimeter at a time so it was darn-near invisible to people in attendance to accommodate the wind. Then they did the fold (each of which has a special meaning to the Army) completely perfect in spite of the wind.

Don't mention wind! I put wind mills around a baby's site and then the wind picked and everything was spinning. It was kind of goose-bumpily.
