I noticed shortly after I fed my fish tonight that my female clownfish was missing. I can't believe it. I have had them for 6 years and she is gone. I looked everywhere. I have a mantis shrimp somewhere in the tank. I can hear him clicking. I think he got her. I can't think of any other explanation! Im so pissed!

Could well be the mantis. I would strongly recommend getting it out.

Yeah, I think he is a goner. How do you catch those shrimps. They seem impossible to catch.

I doubt a mantis got it. you had it 6 yrs ? What the life span of a clown ? I have had a few tangs to make 10 plus yrs .. Maybe it just died ? As for catching a mantis ?? I have never heard of it being done by trapping although the sellers of the traps would tell you differently. I never buy liverock thats when they get in from.. other then removing everything from the tank and actually finding it's hole in the rock and killing or removing it that is.. I have helped a few to do this job over the yrs.. If you any hermits and or snails or shrimps in the system I doubt you have mantis either ? But these are their first of diet then on to fish and flakes . Only the spearing type will gig a fish ..

Well I have seen the shrimp. I too thought that I don't think he could kill the clown. The clown was a good size. The shrimp is about 2 1/2 inches long. I do have plenty of snails and a few crabs in there. No other shrimp however. The clown dying of old age is a possibility. I can't find her anywhere though. Sucks. I will catch that shrimp. And he will be going bye bye
