Missing Clowns

    Hey All --- Will an elephant ear mushroom eat clown fish?? I had two true percs in my tank last night and woke up this morning too a little differect view in the tank.. They are both gone. :confused:

    If they were healthy I doubt it.

    They were healthy that I know of.. They were "playing" around the mushroom last night which is why is id my suspect. Clowns are generally not hiders that I know of so something happened.

    My clown sleeps very deep inside of a large bubble coral. The reason I suggested that I dis-agree on the "healthy" aspect is, these symbiotic relationships they form involve trust. Unfortunately, large mushrooms and the sort don't have the same feelings towards the clown. Your mushroom could have started to close on the clown(s) and they thought it was trying to snuggle. I'm not sure what happened to your clowns but, wouldn't rule out the mushroom. There are alot of other avenues to investigate.

    xenia
    colt corals
    elephant ear mushroom
    hammer coral
    a Clam
    Button polips
    gonipora
    1 blue/green cromis
    6 line wrass
    Naso tang
    orange spot goby
    4 cleaner shrimp
    15 -20 hermits

    I did that too. Looked on the floor in my overflow etc.. I have egg creat on the top so their chance of getting out should be slim. Does anyone think it is likly that BOTH of them are hiding in the rocks.. I only ask becuase every clown I have ever had swim in the open water more.

    15-20 hermits will make quick work of a dead critter(s) in your tank also.
