I'm so glad the goby showed up! Our watchman goby and pistol shrimp have been known to disappear for five days at a time. It freaked me out the first time because our first goby was a jumper and we found him behind the tank. It was very sad! I think they must be underground digging new tunnels when they disappear like that. I occasionally target feed the goby, but mostly he sifts through the sand eating whatever the shrimp has unearthed. They are constantly rearranging the sand bed!

As far as sifting the sand that is why I got mine.. When I was at the LFS they had a couple and 1 in their DT which was going to town on the sand. So I thought this is perfect and picked one out from the for sale group.. I have yet to see him sifting and if I don't feed him for a day his stomach starts to look sunken.

Hopefully he will start doing the job I wanted him for. I was talking to another person who said that I should also get a Yellow head as they do a better job of sifting as they move around alot more than the pink and blue spot.
