I realized that I don't think I ever introduced myself. I just joined 3reef a few weeks ago and decided today to become a 3reef supporter. I have been very impressed with the supportiveness of the community. I hope everyone will be patient with my newbie questions.

    Introduction
Family : Married, 2 kids, 14 year old boy and 11 year old girl. How time flies.
Day Job: NASA Johnson Space Center: Deputy Manager, Constellation Program Design Integration Office... a true NASA Geek.
Aquariums : Very novice, kept some fresh and salt fish tanks in the past but have never done it well. Really want to learn and do it right this time.

Look forward to learning and hopefully someday contributing.

    Respectfully,
    Mark

    Thanks for the welcomes.

I'll get some pictures and schematics posted when I get back home. Visiting my brother in Colorado right now for Thanksgiving.

If you could, I would appreciate some feedback on this Newbie Post.

the best piece of advice you'll get around here as a saltwater newbie is 3Reef's slogan
    "Go slow, let it grow."
good luck and post pics soon :)

    jonjonwells,

So what NASA myths are they talking on mythbusters?

Yes, we DID land on the Moon.
No, NASA did not invent Velcro.

What else can I help you with?? I don't know much of anything about reef tanks, but I can help on the NASA stuff. I can tell you interesting stuff about floating in zero-g. Pretty cool job.

They were busting the supposed fake photos with nonlinear shadows, video that was supposedly filmed at double speed and then slowed down for the effect of slow running and jumping. They also did some vacuum tests on the footage of the waving flag as they planted it. Not sure what facility they visited, but NASA donated their vacuum chambers for the tests.

It was really a quite good show. You should be able to see footage of it on YouTube. I believe it is a rerun.
