Just wondering how often you guys run your moonlights? I turn mine on every other night.
Also do the moonlights really have any effect on fish/coral behavior? I figure some total darkness is good, but I hear of other people that run their moonlights 24/7.

I run mine 24/7. I try to simulate the 24 hour day for my fish best way possible. IMO I believe its more healthy.

I only run one small actinic t5 for a few hours after halides turn off.

Moonlights are pretty much a gimmic, now if you get a lunar simulator you might actually be making a difference to coral and fish reproduction, of course it may be tidal changes not moonlight that triggers the events.
But do you want your corals spawn? It will probably hurt water quality and uses up alot of the corals resources(borneman quote some like 80% of nitrogen) so growth will stop for a while.
alot of fish that hobbiest breed will spawn simply with out a lunar cycle, some people say its helpful to turn the moon lights on once every couple of weeks tho.

I have 6 LEDs in my hood, and they run whenever the regular lights are off, so you can see into the tank a bit.
