I just got the aquaticlife fixture with the built in timer. I need to adjust my program to start earlier anyway (Right now it stays dark when I am leaving for work in the morning... meaning I cant feed the fish) so I figured I would ask another question and kill 2 birds with one stone :)

I noticed there is a few hours where the moonlights are off. Is this darkness needed? Unfortunately (since we hate mornings!) everyone in my house is early risers so I'd like to keep the moonlights on until the other lights come on. Would this be a problem?

I do believe there is a reason for this but I am not sure, someone else should be able to help you with this. You could just change the timer to make the time the moonlights are off at night when you are not up and have them on in the morning.

my fish tank will never be 100% dark..mainly cuz i got expensive fish and dont want any of them to wonder in my nem.. a while ago i read a thread saying that people were having fish coming up missing, and the conclusion of it was the fish in the pitch black tanks were accidentally swimming into their nems..this is just a theory and one i go by, no way is it a fact... all i can say is those people havent had a problem since using moonlights... i like them, they make my corals glow crazy colors, and also lets me look at my tank at night, which is very interesting to see.. i have the blue moonlights, and i dont think the brightness they are affect anything...hope this helps...

also when i go to our condo in destin and we are out in the water at night, unless theres no moon, the ocean is pretty bright, in a way bright enough to see ur hand, and easily bright enough on a full moon...plus 90% of the corals we have in this trade are shallow water corals and i dont think the moon brightness affects them..

That's what I am thinking. I mean, it seems like there might be a reason for it... but I've heard a few people saying they keep it lit all night.

I think I will try keeping the lights on, see if it affects anything :)
