So hopefully moving to an apartment in September. I currently have a 75gal DT with a big sump, and a 40Breeder plumbed into this.

I was thinking, since the 40B is empty just some base rock, that i could bring the 40B over, get it filled up and going, move all live rock, corals, and fish over to this. Then rip down the 75 and move that over, then once i get it filled and going move everything back to the 75.

What should i do about the sand bed in the 75? Do not want to get new said it is expensive sand from marcorocks.com, should i just leave it with a bit of water just to cover it? What about all the snails and stuff not sure i will be able to get them all out of the sand bed.

how far of a move? how deep? how old is the bed?

Also, check out The Reef Rock Store There sand is pre rinsed, not perfectly, but pretty darn good. Much better sand than marco. Marco's is too fine, tons of dust and tons of rinsing required.

    40#s shipped is only $25

I just moved my tank, I took out all of the live rock and just left the sand in the tank with enough water to cover. I floated a bag of ice to keep it cool as it had to go for a 40 mile trip in the back of a moving truck on a 103 degree day.

Re-added newly mixed water and everything is flourishing. The big thing is not to let it get too agitated so it doesn't release too much trapped crud into the water column.

about 15 miles. And yea i hate the marcosand i got, was to fine! maybe around 6months old. I might just get new sand, sift all the snails out of the old stuff. I really do not like it.

That's what I did during my transfer. REefrocks sand is alot better than marco, doesn't blow around as much. I'd highly consider it, plus it'll save ya having to worry about the sand during the move. I vote toss it and get new.

    Good luck in the move.
