well i guess this serves as a bump too but the short term answer is to keep it on pulse until my cycle is over or until i have coral, by then there will be bacterial and what not weighing down the sand and then i will mess with it and hopefully be able to keep it on reef crest. I guess i shouldnt even have it on full power in a 22 gallon considering my return from my sump is 600 gph... Thats a crap load of flow!!!! And turnover!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I got my MP10 the week they came out and have been experimenting with it since. Here's my findings:

Reef crest: SPS extends most and has most growth under this setting.
Lagoon: About the same as reef crest for SPS but softies and LPS don't like the longer periods of full flow.
Waves: Softies and LPS are happiest with this. Flow goes back and forth across them instead of bashing them hard from one side. SPS also doesn't mind this setting, but does not have as much growth.

So my answer would be it depends what type of corals you plan on keeping.

I also had big problems with the sand staying put in my tank. Within a few weeks of running reef crest at full bore the sand found it's resting places and doesn't move around anymore.

For your 22 gallon full power should be good flow for SPS, but I would cut it down to 3/4 or below for softies or LPS.

Thanks so much mike, expecially for the experiment results. when you say thats hould be good flow for sps, did you read my return is 600 gallons? I ask because the way you type it, it looks like its barely enough flow. I think im going strictly sps, way down the road like next winter a rose bta

It should be perfect for SPS if not a little high. When you start adding corals give them a couple weeks to acclimate and then check their polyp extension. If they are not fully extended you will probably want to tune it back a bit.

I would be very cautious about adding an anemone to your tank. A 22 is pretty small to keep your nem away from corals and also away from your pump.

Holy mackerel, that IS a lot. With an MP10 running full blast you would have over 100x flow!!

I got my MP10 last month and was so happy with reef crest that I never messed with anything else. Maybe I should try short pulse!

O no man, i got it all planned out (i always say this :p) ;D;D You see, im going to do it over winter break of next year so i can really keep a close eye on the nem until it finds its perfect place in the tank and with a tank that is a year old with great flow and a great light, finding that perfect spot shouldnt take long. I didnt really think about the other corals but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. Its just been a dream of mine to have a nem, thats why i started the hobby in the first place. Gotta do what ya gotta do!

You should, its kinda cool just to mess around with. I would never keep it like this because well, it gives you the feeling of being sea sick ;D well at least the very fast setting i have it on ;D Its very cool to look at and experiment with though. I cant stop playing with it! Im so so so so so impressed. And 100x turnover, well lets just leave it at THATS A LOT!

Mine took three weeks before it would even grab onto a rock. Then it wandered the tank for about a week after that. Since then it has never moved it's foot from the rock it's on. Even if I move the rock around it stays put.

I have to agree with you though. My tank wouldn't be the same without the nem in there.
