mushroom question

    is there a way to just move the mushrooms? they are stuck to decent sized chunks of LR lol

    Its not easy IMHO but they are resilient creatures so it can be done

    follow the procedure for fragging

    cut the shroom using a craft type knife (scalpel) as close to the rock as you can
    place these on a smaller rock inside a plastic tub on your sand bed (the tub stops the shrooms being blown around in the tank)

    within 14 days the shrooms should have anchored themselves to the new peice of rock, which you can then remove from tub and place where you want

    but IMHO - with a brand new 4 lamp T5 fixture, the area near the top of the tank would be better suited to other species of more light demanding corals , which may mean that piece of rock you have there now, will be in the way later anyway

    so a quick change around, swapping that rock, with a rock from lower down, would be the option I would choose

    awesome this is why i ask lol how far off the sand bed should i try to place them and does it matter if they arent facing straight up. like on the side of a rock?

    shecter - my preference is for the rock to be placed side on, as this means you can see more of the shrooms from the front of your tank
    if you lay the rock flat then you only see the ones at the front, unless you look down on them from above
