I recently bought a green mushroom it was attached to a piece of rock. I got home to find it was no longer on the rock it was on the substrate of my tank. Is it dead? or trying to move? I have no Idea it's my first coral.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
They do detach, so chances are good it's not dead.

You can take some small pieces of rubble, place them in a small container in an area of low flow, place the mushroom in that container with the rubble and it will re-attach, or you can let it find a place of low on it's own and it's re-attach.

you can pretty much chop them up in a blender and they will still grow. Stick it in a lower flow area and it should re attach no problem.
