Tomorrow I am picking up my new tank. A 40 gallon breeder, I know it isnt much bigger than what I have but im in love with the dimensions and im getting a pretty good deal. The stand is for a 58 or 70 gallon oceanic that they no longer make so im getting the stand for like 50 bucks.

Anyway its basically going to be filled with everything from my 27.

    Equipment:

Lights: 2 AI SOL with 70 degree optics all around
Power heads: Vortech MP10wES, Koralia EVO 750.
    SKimmer: Warner Marine MF 161
    Carbon Reactor
CPR biopellet reactor (dr tims pearls)
    20 gallon sump with
    mag7 return
    10 gallon Gravity fed ATO

thanks, I appreciate it. I wanted to go bigger, but in the end it just didnt make sense spening all that money for new vortechs and what not. By the time i bought everying that i need (want) for equipment i would be broke and would be able to stock it.

Im just gonna do this and start buying sps and hopefully have a nice reef.

I was getting tired of the cube, its hard to aquascape it and it looks crammed in there.

I feel ya brah. Youll be able to do some nice scaping with the 40. its got decent length, but better yet, awesome depth. and its relatively shallow so your lights will be reaching alllllll parts of the tank.

Try bare bottom bro. I like mine, so easy to siphon stuff out, no sand storms. And if you really want sand. Its much much easier adding, than removing.

With a minimal live rock setup, I would go with a ssb. The dimensions on the 40b will give a TON of surface area to make up for the minimalistic rock scape.

I love the dimensions of a 40b, I have one plumbed into my main setup as frag tank/ lps tank. It's really easy to scape and stupid easy to work in. When something falls over it never has to wait long to get fixed unlike the 210, lol. 2 AI's will be awesome, I'm actually running one with all 70s on mine and it's great for lps with sps right under the light. But I wasn't concerned with getting major light all over this tank.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Me too I love the dimensions of 40 gallons breeders. In fact second only to a Cube tank, but your right they are a nightmare to scape.

Got the tank today, but the stand wouldnt fit in my little honda....big suprise. Im getting a truck tomorrow to haul it out of the LFS. But i did get the tank drilled and painted within an hour of owning it. I also picked up a 20 long for my sump which i will be building tomorrow.

In regards to the lights im going to use standard optics with the SOL's for now because i dont have 4 more 70's for the additional light. if later on i decide im unsatisfied, i will order more 70 degree optics.
