Its been an interesting last couple of months. My tank actually crashed, lost most sps frags. Oddly was able to save a few things. I picked up a 15 gallon tank to hold some rock from the 40 and any livestock that was okay. I also tried to have some friends pick up my clam and a few corals that would need more light while my 40 was cycling again. Unfortunately they couldnt come get them so i had to wing it. I kept stuff in the 15 as long as I could but eventually had to move stuff over while ammonia was still sky high and hope for the best. Here is what survived, my corcea clam, goniopora, cyphastrea, green monti cap, maxi mini nem, and 2 no name sps frags. So if anyone newer to the hobby is reading this post, take my advice. Do not attempt to cycle a tank with livestock, its a miracle that these things survived.

I also wanted to post some pics of the new set up showing the before and after of the rapid led supplemental lighting.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Well things look like there doing very well now. Sweet Maxi-mini and Crocea.

    Like the scape very much.

    Why did the tank crash?

Good question, i cant really say for sure. I think it was a combination of things. I just had a child and have been quite busy and let things slip. I think my biopellets kicked in too fast because i was impatient and tried to speed up the seeding process with wasteaway. It first killed off most LPS, and then the SPS. Maybe the phosphates dropped too quickly.

When I cycled this tank i turned on the biopellet reactor right from the start.

Now that my son is older i am finding more time to take care of things so I wont be letting maintenance slide again.
